Healing the
culture, together.
We’re normalizing mental health in Chicago’s Latine and immigrant communities through conversations that revolve around our everyday lives.
Mental health meets culture & community
A Latino psychologist (Dr. Ricardo Camacho) and Latina nurse (Jazzine Acevedo) recognize the gap between mental health, culture and community. The trust between us and spaces we exist. How we approach conversations matter. That's where Salud comes in.
Salud Chicago is a Latino family founded mental health nonprofit organization committed to breaking the stigma in historically marginalized, Latine, immigrant communities and where we exist (e.g. workspace, corporate, organizations).
We create, facilitate, and host mental health talks, healing socials, community events, and wellness workshops designed for the people we serve, led by Latino and BIPOC advocates and mental health professionals who understand the weight of two languages, two cultures, and the silence in between.
Whether in a large group setting or an intimate space, we meet people where they are.

"Juntas" a women’s healing social
Juntas is a space where Latinas, working professionals, mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends gather to exhale. To name the weight we carry. To laugh, cry, and remember we were never meant to do this alone.
- Themed healing conversations led by Latina professionals
- Intimate group size built for real connection
- Activities, conversations, and room to just be
- Topics from self-care and womanhood to movement as healing
"It was the first time I cried in a room full of strangers and felt completely held. We're not strangers anymore."
— Juntas attendee, Pilsen

What our comunidad says.
Growing up, mental health wasn't a conversation we had. Salud gave my family the language we never knew we needed.
As a therapist of color, partnering with Salud has been the most fulfilling work of my career. This is what culturally competent care actually looks like.
My dad came to a men's social and didn't say a word the whole time. He's been to four since. That tells you everything.
